Getting started
Signing up
On the sign-up page you choose your Zanix address (for example yourshop.zanixtechnologies.com), your main currency and your chart of accounts:
- Iraqi unified chart (the default): the Iraqi Unified Accounting System, with the official Arabic financial statements. Choose it if you report to Iraqi tax and audit authorities.
- Standard (simple): a short international chart in English, for small businesses that don't need the Iraqi format.
The chart can't be swapped for the other one later, but you can always add, rename or move accounts (Accounting → Chart of Accounts).
The setup wizard
The first time an administrator signs in, Zanix opens the setup wizard. Until it is finished, a banner at the top of every page says so.
- Company: the name as it should appear on invoices, your tax ID, the main currency, the costing method (FIFO suits most shops) and whether you charge tax on sales.
- Owners: who owns the business and each owner's share of the profit, for example two owners at 50% each. The shares must add up to exactly 100%. Each owner gets a capital account and a withdrawal account; the year-end profit is split by these shares. You can change owners later under Accounting → Partner.
- Sample data: optional example items (eight appliances with prices and barcodes, plus an installation service), four customers and a supplier, so you can try a sale straight away.
Everything you enter can be changed later in Settings.
Deleting the sample data
While the sample data is there, a banner offers to delete it. Press Delete it, then Delete the sample data. Records you have already used on a document (for example a customer on an invoice) are kept; cancel or delete those documents first, then delete again.
