What Standard prints

Quotations, sales orders, delivery notes, invoices, purchase orders and receipts print as a clean customer document: your logo, tax number, address, phone and email (fill them in on your company under Address and Contact), the customer or supplier (name, address, phone, tax number), the dates, one line per item (name and code, quantity and unit, price, discount when there is one, amount), the taxes and grand total, what is still owed (or Paid in full), the payment schedule when there is more than one due date, the total in words, remarks, and lines to sign. Internal details such as accounts, cost centers and conversion factors are left out. Amounts are in the document's own currency, so a USD quotation prints dollars.

Other records print every filled-in field of the form; empty sections are left out.

Amounts are shown with the currency's usual decimals (IQD without decimals, USD with 2), but the stored amount never changes. A cancelled document prints with a Cancelled mark.

Invoices, payments and cheques also print the total in words in the print language, for example "two million five hundred thousand Iraqi dinars only". If a language's number words haven't been written yet, that line is simply left out.

Every print and PDF is recorded in the document's Activity, with the format and language.

Your own print formats (administrators)

Settings → Print formats → New:

  1. Choose the document type and give the format a name.
  2. Choose the paper (A4, A5, Letter or an 80 mm receipt) and the orientation.
  3. Tick Use by default if this should be the format people get unless they choose another.
  4. Edit the template. It starts as a copy of a simple format you can change.
  5. Click Save and preview to see it with the newest record of that type.

Writing a template

Templates are HTML with a few simple placeholders:

Write To show
{{ doc.customer_name }} a field, as it's printed (names, dates, amounts)
{{ label('customer_name') }} the field's label in the print language
{{ company.name }}, {{ company.tax_id }}, {{ company.address }}, {{ company.phone }}, {{ company.email }} your company's name, tax number and contact details
{% if second %}{{ second.code }} {{ second.amount }} ({{ second.rate }}){% endif %} the total in the second currency chosen when printing
{{ party.name }}, {{ party.tax_id }}, {{ party.address }}, {{ party.phone }} the customer or supplier
{{ currency.code }} the document's currency
{{ row.item_code }}, {{ row.image }} a line's item code, and its item image when the document's Show Item Images When Printed is ticked (use it as <img src="{{ row.image }}">)
{{ print.doctype }}, {{ print.date }} the document type and today's date
{% for row in doc.items %} … {{ row.item_name }} … {% endfor %} each line of a table
{% if doc.notes %} … {% endif %} something only when a field is filled
{{ words(raw.grand_total) }} an amount in words, in the print language and the company's currency (words(raw.grand_total, currency.code) for the document's)
{{ words(raw.paid_amount, 'USD') }} an amount in words in a given currency

You can also use filters such as upper, lower, default('—'), date('Y-m-d') and nl2br.

For safety, templates can only use these simple features. They can't run code or include other files. If something isn't allowed, or the template has a typo, Zanix says which line has the problem when you save. If a saved format later can't be printed, the print page explains why, and you can still print with Standard.

For the Zanix team: amounts in words

Owner portal → Number words. Choose a language and fill in:

  1. Numbers: the words for 0 to 19, the tens (20 … 90) and the hundreds (100 … 900), each written as it's said alone.
  2. Joining words: what goes between tens and ones (for example " و " or "-"), after hundreds, and between thousands and millions. Include the spaces. Switch off Tens before ones for languages that say the ones first (واحد وعشرون).
  3. Thousand, million, billion: the word for exactly 1 and for other counts. Languages like Arabic can also fill in the forms for exactly 2 and for 3 to 10 (ألف، ألفان، آلاف).
  4. Amounts: the whole sentence (:amount only, «فقط :amount لا غير»), the wording with fils or cents (:major and :minor), and the name of each currency in the same four forms.

The Preview at the top shows sample numbers as you type. Click Save, and prints in that language show amounts in words from then on.
